Day 2 of Filming!

Back again!

Excited to show you guys what I have been doing lately. Like I said on Sunday, I had started filming. Well, today I finished the filming so it took me a day less than I thought it would. Las time we went to Markham Park to do the filming but today, Vanessa came over to finish it at my house. So today I filmed the beginning and the end of the introduction. Here are some of the clips I got from today and some bloopers!

Hey guys! I’m so excited to announce that today began my filming process for the introduction to the movie called… Between the Branches!

So the actors in my movie are going to be Vanessa who will play Kiara and Jose who will play Antonio. We spent the day at Markham park filming today then we went out for ice cream. Honestly we had so much fun. We definitely need to film again tomorrow because I only got about half of the scenes done so we need to get the rest of them tomorrow at my house. We got all the scenes we needed to film at the park done and now we only need to get the ones from my mailbox which we should be able to do tomorrow and the day after. Script, Storyboard, and Prop!

 Hey guys! So this week I had scheduled to finish my new storyboard and the new script that I had to make for the new storyline. I’m happy to announce that I finished doing so. I don’t want to post them or share them completely so that you guys can have a little surprise on my new movie, which I will announce the name when we start filming!! So here’s a little bit about both of them. 

So for the script it starts out without any sound. A lot of this intro won’t have any talking but more of other sounds like the birds and trees in the background which I plan on emphasizing during the editing process. The only talking is really going to happen when Antonio or Antonia initially scares Kiara and when they hear the gunshot while at the lake. Here the words would just stay as they were in the original script. The same goes for the part where Kiara hears the gunshot. The main difference in the script is the beginning where it just shows Kiara leaving the house to get mail and sees a newsletter with information on a new murder case, then she gets a flashback where everything else happens. 

The storyboard stayed the same for both of the characters while they are in the forest. Once again, the only main difference is Kiara going to get the mail in the beginning of the introduction. It’s just a few shots of her coming out of the house and goes to get the mail. 

Adding on to all f this, I decided to make the main prop for the film: the newsletter. I made it using the Canva app and writing a fake story for a fake town. Here’s a picture of what it looks like, (for referenceI printed it out on a sheet of paper) I hope you guys enjoy:

Cast! and the situation :)

 So an update on my video production:

    I was going to film as much as I could this past weekend, but I ran into a problem. My friend, Maria, lost her voice over the weekend and couldn't film. Before this I had asked many friends if they wanted to be in it, but they all said no besides her and another friend, Ana Luiza.  That is another reason why I made the schedule for the rest of my production, to really organize myself because I felt that I had too much to do and it felt stressful.

    Because of this, I went around asking my friends once again if they wanted to be in the production. Most of them said no, the same as before. However, two of them said yes. Their names are Vanessa and Jose. So now, I definitely want to film this weekend, like I showed on my schedule.

    Here's the thing, Maria gets back from a trip on Sunday in the early afternoon, so I might able to film with her, but Ana Luiza said that she doesn't know if she can film on Sunday because something came up, which is completely fine. Because of this though, I have Vanessa and Jose, who both said they would be available throughout the weekend so I might change my characters to the original two, Kiara and Antonio. All of this just depends on opportunity. I am leaning more towards filming with Vanessa and Jose, because their availability is more secure in a way, but whoever can if perfectly fine. 

    Anyways, let me introduce you guys to them :)

So the first two are the ones that would play Kiara.

    This would be either be Vanessa or Maria. Both of them are super adventurous and fun people to be around. I met Vanessa about eight years ago so we are super close, which might be why she said yes to do this. The other person who might play this role is Ana Luiza. I actually met her through one of the other potential cast members about a year or two ago. She is also super kind and loves adventure

 The other two would play either Antonia or Antonia, depending on who is available.

    This is either Maria or Jose. I met Maria actually about fifteen years ago, so once again we are super close and she is like family to me. This might also be why she said yes to do this. She gets home on Sunday in the early afternoon from a trip which is why she might be available. The other one is Jose who would play Antonio. I have known him for about a year and a half and he is Vanessa's boyfriend, so it makes sense to make them act in the intro as boyfriend and girlfriend. I feel like with both of them, they would have a super good connection that you would hopefully be able to see on screen. 

With all of the four people, I need to ask them if they want their names to be in the production, if they do, I will add it in during the editing, however if they don't, I will make up a fake name during the editing. I'll update you all with this information during the editing process. 

I'll keep up with my post and update on who turns out to be in it, or if anything changes again, but for now it is al a surprise!

SCHEDULING

 As I move further along in my project, I decided I want to have a set schedule to really organize myself and keep myself on track. To do this, I went into my calendar app and just scheduled out what I want to do and when, in less specific turns. For example, this following week, I want to have all of my official plans set, like the storyboard and script so I can start filming on Sunday the next week. I spaced out the filming into 3 days so it is all spread out and I can be sure to have everything I need. Following the filming I set some time up to edit the final project, get any rerecords that I might need and upload the project to my blog. After that I have time set to prepare my CCR, film it, edit it, then upload it to my blog. Here is what my schedule looks like for now (I might make changes if I need to). 

The highlighted parts on the calendar are the holidays and events coming up that are automatically added, the rest of the writing is the plans for my project. I hope I follow it and feel that the schedule works well.

Changes Changes Changes

So here's the thing. 

    I wanted to end my two minute film opening with a clip of a Kiara reading in a newspaper the news about the man in the woods. BUT, with all  the running I want to incorporate into the beginning, it just doesn't make sense to put that in the end. Instead I'm going to put it in the beginning. The rest will still stay the same. The reason why I want to change it is because it would be too much to put into the first two minutes of the movie and it would leave a small plot hole.

    So, the new plan is as follows, it is going to start out with Kiara getting the mail. In the mail she is going to read a newsletter or newspaper about a man in forest, this is when she is going to get the realization that what she heard in the woods while she was with Antonia was a gunshot. It would be like the dots connected in her head. The realization would come while she is a having a flashback of the day in the forest. It is going to end with her having a moment of realization, she will say two words, then she will go running to tell Antonia what she had just figured out.

    I want to switch this because it would flow better. If I were to do it how I originally wanted, I would probably need to show the girls getting into the car and driving off somewhere and then getting out at the house. This would just take up too much time in the beginning that might be better if it were to have anything different. I do still want to figure out how I am going to incorporate the scene where Kiara gets scared, because I definitely want it to be a part of the intro. What I plan on doing is filming all the scenes I want to, then when I start editing, I'll place it in different spots and see how it flows. If  I see that it does not fit or just doesn't feel right, I'll have to come up with different ideas on what else to add in the intro to take the place of the original "first scene" in the two minute movie intro.

Where Should I Film?

 For my movie intro, I plan to film on location. This means that I would film in a forest-like setting.

I can only really think of two places like this. The first one is a public, state park called Markham Park. I know this place because its near me and I used to go a lot when I was younger. But if I were to film there I would film on one of the biking or walking trails there are. I went to one of these a few months ago so I'll show you guys some pictures I found on Google and some that I took myself while I was there.

In the pictures you can see some on the places I might want to film if I use this location. You can see the lake right next to the dock I might choose. The dock is not seen too clearly, but you can see what I mean. Honestly, if I were to have chosen any of the other options for this project, I would have still tried to incorporate this place as a location because I think that it is so beautiful. 

The other place I had in mind was one in my neighborhood. It looks similar because it has a lake and some trees. Near the clubhouse area, there is a playground and behind it there are lots of trees and a sidewalk. I couldn't find many pictures of it but its has a similar concept. There are trees and a lake. There is no dock, however, there are a few benches overlooking the lake. This might workout if I choose this location. Anyway, here are some pictures of it:

These are my choices for filming locations for the main portion of the film. The other location would be mine or one of my friends houses for the very last part of the introduction.
